Conference of the Visegrad Countries LUMEN V4

Lighting Conference
The
Conference took place at the Congress and Recreation Centre ORLE GNIAZDO (Eagle
Nest) in Szczyrk on September 17 – 19, 2008.
There were 119 participants of the Conference,
among them::

from Slovakia.
as well
as the President of the CIE – dr Franz Hengstberger and a Vice President of the CIE – dr Janos Schanda.
According to the agreement of partners from
Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland, at the Conference specialists:

countries presented one invited paper each.
Following invited papers have been
presented:

Ciupak (Poland) – Computer
completion of the process of modelling the layout of illumination of Wawel Hill in Cracow.

Żak (Czech Republic) – The issue of environmental qualities of lighting.

Smola (Slovakia) – Assessment of lighting systems for energy certification of buildings.

Nemethne Vidovszky
(Hungary) – On the application of modern
light sources – with emphasis on home lighting.
Ø authors from the four am. countries
presented 20 papers, five by authors from each country,
Ø unlimited poster papers could be
presented by specialists from each country.
All together 68 papers have been accepted for
the Conference - 24 presented papers and 44 poster ones.
There were four main topics of the papers:
-
outdoor
lighting,
-
indoor
lighting,
-
energy
savings in indoor lighting and daylighting,
-
lighting
equipment and optical radiation metrology,
Complete list of papers has been presented in
the enclosed Conference program.
Paper presentations were simultaneously
translated from Polish to Hungarian and from Polish to Czech and vice versa.
Besides four sessions during which papers were
presented to the audience, there was also a poster session (consisting of two
parts) during which 44 poster papers were presented to smaller groups of
interested specialists..
At the back of the conference room lighting
equipment and measuring systems were exhibited by six enterprises from Hungary,
Czech Republic and Poland as well as two international companies.
At the time overlapping with the Conference, an
International Fair ENERGETAB in Bielsko Biala took place, at which 20 lighting companies presented
their products. The Conference participants had been invited by the Fair
organizers and they had an opportunity to visit the Fair on September the 17th,
before opening of the Conference.
Accompanying persons had an opportunity to
visit the Beer Museum at Żywiec, the central part of Bielsko Biała as well as selected
places in the Beskidy Mountains.
Complete Conference materials have been
published in the electronic form on a CD. Most of the presented papers have
been also published in the August issue of the monthly Przegląd Elektrotechniczny
(Elektrotechnical Revue).
According to the opinions of the participants,
the Conference fulfilled their expectations, both the scientific and technical
contents of the presented papers and the way of their presentation, as well as
their translation. The standard of the Conference venue, services and
organization were also satisfactory.

In spite of that support, serious economical
problems for the organizers were caused by unfavourable changes of the Euro
rate of exchange.
